The Conference between Brill and Social Sciences Academic Press-International

On the afternoon of June 13, Albert Hoffstadt, the director of Brill’s Asian Studies Centre, and Jiang Qin, a senior editor in Brill, paid a formal visit to Social Sciences Academic Press. Zhou Li, the president of SSAP-International. Li Yanling, the vice president of SSAP-International and Guo Rongrong met with them and reviewed the long-term cooperation between Brill and SSAP briefly. Jiang Qin gave a report about the sales situation of these co-publications between two parties. By far, both the “Pishu” series and the “Reform and Opening-up” series have been sold very well with an increase traditional book sale volume and a large number of electronic books which is under statistics.

Later in the afternoon, guests from Brill held a working conference with president Xie-the president of SSAP. President Xie introduced the latest achievements that SSAP has broadened its cooperation with foreign polishers. He said that currently the international communities are urgent to know more about China and would like to be informed with China’s latest development. In such situation, there should be more collaboration to do between Chinese and foreign scholars. Therefore, China’s voice can be heard in the world.

At last, president Xie suggest a symposium between Chinese and foreign scholars could be held during the Beijing International Book Fair in September and wished that Brill could participate in it. Albert Hoffstadt showed his interest on this and said Brill will respond actively. The conference ended in a pleasant atmosphere.
