Book launch for Research Report on Corporate Social Responsibility of China (2012), in the Blue Book of Corporate Social Responsibility series, took place in Beijing on 21st November 2012. The event was jointly hosted by the Economics Division, and the National Academy of Social Development Strategy, both of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and the Social Sciences Academic Press (SSAP). The Report was edited by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Research Center of CASS's Economics Division and published by SSAP.
The Report collects findings about CSR management and CSR-related information disclosure at China's top 100 state-owned enterprises, top 100 private enterprises and top 100 foreign-invested enterprises. These findings provide a comprehensive picture of the development of CSR practices in China in the 2011-2012 periods. Fourteen sectors, including electric power, banking, communications, special equipment, manufacturing, electronics, real estate, automobile, retail and consumer chemicals were subject to close examination with regard to their CSR practices and performances. Besides, what is innovative about the latest report of this Blue Book series is the inclusion of chapters on best practices in CSR, exemplified in particular by corporations such as China Southern Power, the Grandbuy Group, China Minsheng Bank, and Samsung China.
The launch event was presided over by Xie Shouguang, president of SSAP. Huang Qunhui, spoke at the press conference on behalf of Chen Jiagui, chairman of CASS's Economics Division. Zhong Hongwu, director of the CSR Research Center, gave a keynote speech about the book. Over ten individuals involved in the project made presentations showcasing the latest developments of in the area of CSR in their respective companies.
