The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) forum on Equitable Access to Sustainable Development and book launch for Green Book of Climate Change 2012 was held jointly in Hotel Nikko New Century Beijing on 21st November 2012.
Forum participants discussed developments in global responses to climate change since the Durban conference in 2011. Special attention was paid to the potential impacts of the Durban negotiations on international and domestic climate policies and China's long-term strategy to address climate change. China's options in financial policies, regulative measures and challenges in advancing a low-carbon economy were also on the agenda. The Annual Report on Actions to Address Climate Change (2012), of the Green Book of Climate Change series, was released officially at the conference. Pan Jiahua, director of the Institute of Urban and Environmental Studies of CASS, gave an overview of this report.
Green Book of Climate Change in 2012 explores climate financing from many diverse perspectives, and discusses in particular how market instruments, such as high-efficiency trading platforms and multi-level financial services, can be used to advance China's climate objectives. The book reflects the research efforts by more than 30 Chinese and international scholars who specialize in climate change, energy or climate policy, and low-carbon finance, some of who directly participated in international climate change negotiations.
The event was jointly hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), and organized by CASS's Institute of Urban and Environmental Studies of CASS, CMA's National Climate Center, and the Social Sciences Academic Press.
