As a significant achievement of National Academy of Economic Strategy (NAES) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Analysis and Forecast of Macroeconomic Performance of China (2012), published by Social Sciences Academic Press, was released at an event held at NAES on 12th December, 2012.
Gao Peiyong, president of NAES, attended and spoke at the launch. Liu Yingqiu, director of the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that China can achieve its economic growth target for this year. Fan Jianping, the deputy director of the National Information Center, a invited guest, delivered an important speech in which he noted that ambitious goals would be unrealistic, considering de facto excessive production capacity. It would be important to trim excess productivity via slowing down growth.
Dr. Lv Fengyong, chief editor of the book and assistant research fellow of NAES, gave an introduction to the report, said that the Chinese economy will continue to be affected by many negative factors in the near future, including the slow recovery of the global economy, housing market regulation and excess production capacities. Besides, China's GDP will grow by about 7.7 percent in 2012 and the will perform better in 2013.
The event was hosted by the National Academy of Economic Strategy and Social Sciences Academic Press, both of CASS, and presided over by Shi Dan, vice director of NAES.
