From the beginning of founding of new China to today after reform and opening, the Chinese society has experienced profound transformation. Among them, an important one is the transformation of social stratification linked with the consumption system and the consumption idea. This stratification may be called as the transformation from disciplinant society to consumer society. This book has analyzed the fundamental changes of the urban consumption system, the labor excitation as well as the main structure of town dwellers in this process using the sociological way, which has showed new China’s huge changes in the consumption domain since established.
