Although ithas entered the final stage of industrialization, China is still some distance from being a fully industrialized country. A fair evaluation of China’s progress on the industrialization path must take into consideration not only what works generally in the world but also what works only in China given the country’s specific conditions. Using an evaluation index that includes five measurement categories - economic development, structural changes, technological progress, ecological construction and integration within the global economy, with 10 indicators within each –the authors try to gauge China’s performance so far in its drive to industrialize. They concludethat China willlikely achieve full industrialization by the year2020.
