Internet has greatly accelerated the pace of China’s social modernization, which lets to a profound impact on reconstructing all aspects of Chinese society. The book observes the Internet from the perspectives of sociology, and gives an in-depth analysis of how internet affects Chinese society from several aspects includes: individual, social interaction, groups, culture and social structure.
The book argues that the Internet first emerged in the West, and greatly influenced by the West culture of individualism. The Internet led to a fundamental impact on Chinese traditional culture and social relations after being introduced into China. In a sense, the Internet is reshaping the Chinese culture, and Chinese culture is reconstructing the Internet structure with Chinese characteristics.
