The book introduces a multidimensional evaluation system for studying quality of life in China today. Both quantitative and analytical approaches are used in its construction. Quality of life has a broad range of determinants, including economic, social and environmental conditions. More specifically, factors such as gender, education and location have measurable impact on people’s objective welfare and subject sense of wellbeing.  Policies meant to improve either must effectively target each and every contributing factor.
