About the author(s):

Description:

Lu You, a famous poet in the Southern Song Dynasty, spent a long time living in the countryside of his hometown in eastern Zhejiang. Six to seventy percent of Lu You's poems are related to his hometown life. This book interprets Lu You's poems, observes the rural social life in eastern Zhejiang through Lu You’s eyes and and shows the "rural world" in his mind, which is very precious. Through the analysis of the case of Lu You’s “rural world”, it shows  that Lu You’s rural life is a living model for a middle-to-upper level rural residence in eastern Zhejiang; the scholar class represented by Lu You had played multiple complicated roles in rural social life. The colorful and difficult rural life perceived and described by Lu You, to a certain extent, provides us with several fulcrums on which we can imagine the "Song Dynasty countryside".
