Description:

In the Qing Dynasty, Chongqing was a rising commercial city on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, as well as an immigrant city under reconstruction. In such a city, how will its business develop? What will people from different regions and different industries do to establish a unique business order? This book uses the commercial litigation file of the Qing Dynasty Ba County Archives as the main material to answer these two questions. The book outlines the three evolutionary stages of Chongqing’s commercial system in the Qing Dynasty, and extracts the operating logic of "controlling business by difference (li)" in the Chongqing market in the Qing Dynasty, that is, local government and businessmen are involved, and political power is the decisive factor of Chongqing's commercial changes in the Qing Dynasty.
