In January 1917, Hu Shi published his "Ruminations on the Improvement of Literature" in New Youth and launched the "Literary Revolution", which has since associated his name with the New Culture Movement, of which he is recognized as a leading representative. In order to showcase Hu Shi's achievements and extensive social contacts during the New Culture Movement, this book brings together articles by renowned scholars from home and abroad, including Geng Yunzhi, Yang Tianshi, Wang Rongzu, Chen Suyu, Chen Fangzheng, Chen Plain, Luo Zhitian, Deng Zhaoqi, Jiang Yongzhen, Yamaguchi Ei, Huang Kemu, Wang Qingjia, Wang Zhongjiang, Sun Yu and Zhang Qing, focusing on Hu Shi and the New Culture Movement in China, the interpretation of Hu Shi's thought, Hu Shi and the New Literary Movement, Hu Shi's philosophical thought, and Hu Shi's social contacts. The exhibition will discuss and debate on topics such as Hu Shih's philosophical thought, Hu Shih and the new education, and Hu Shih's interpersonal relationships, in order to highlight Hu Shih's ideological heritage and charisma.
