In the middle of the seventh century, the East Asia entered a turbulent era of massive changes and geopolitical reconfigurations. In the framework of "China-centered world order," the relationship between the Tang Dynasty and the Silla regimes in the southeastern Korean peninsula went through different stages, including the establishment of clan relations, mutual cooperation, friction and conflict, and even reunification. Based on the existing research in Chinese and Korean scholars, this book explores the relevant issues and draws on the existing documents of the three kingdoms as well as the historical materials of gold and stone inscriptions, which have received little attention from scholars. In addition, the book draws on the meticulous research methods of Korean and Japanese scholars and engages in direct dialogue with Korean scholars on some major issues, avoiding the previous phenomenon of each speaking on its own without involving the other.
