This book takes "Guoyu" as its starting point, presenting the evolution of the history of Confucian studies by tracing the history of "Guoyu" studies. As a marginal document in the Confucian studies series, "Guoyu" serves as a marker for observing the changing boundaries of Confucian studies. Therefore, this book situates "Guoyu" in the broader context of the development of Confucian studies. It does so by examining the different circumstances of "Guoyu" at various essential points in the evolution of Confucian studies, especially the varying interpretations of "Guoyu" by scholars of different eras. It seeks to uncover the changing trajectory of "Guoyu" in the history of Confucian studies and explore the underlying roots of this cognitive difference in order to determine the boundaries of Confucian studies in different historical periods. This, in turn, leads to the identification of the inherent mechanisms behind the evolution of Confucian studies and allows us to grasp the overall development of the history of Confucian studies.
