The report, about industrial competitiveness in 2015, is divided into three parts. General Report makes analysis of progress of industrial transformation and upgrading since the beginning of the “Twelfth-Five Year Plan “and discusses the challenges from industrial transformation and upgrading facing by China during the “Thirteenth-Five Year Plan”, proposes policy recommendations to cope with challenges. The second part contains the international issues. This part reviews the industrial competitiveness of 12 countries along B&R, their current status and potential for industrial cooperation with China. This part also reviews industrial competitiveness of Japan and Korea, whose current status and potential for industrial cooperation with China. The third part discusses the domestic issues. This part analyzes industrial competitiveness of the Northeast and Western regions of China, to assess advantages, potential and strategies to join in B&R strategy at province level. Part IV is the Appendix, list of the top 20th advantageous industries of 14 countries.

The main purpose of this report is to explore the strategic significance for China to implement “B&R”, to study the potential of China’s industrial cooperation with the countries along “B&R”, which provides a useful basis for the concrete implementation of “B&R” strategy and companies going to develop investment cooperation with countries along “B&R”.

This report finds that “B&R” strategy for China is a critical step to deal with challenges facing by industrial transformation and upgrading during the “Thirteenth-Five Year Plan”. There exists strong industrial complementarily and rich potential to economic cooperation between China and countries along B&R. Every province in Northeast and Western areas holds its own advantages to join in national “B&R” strategy.
