Description:

The report focuses on the global communication landscape and world media development from the perspective of communication ecology, and provides a perspective on the symbiotic relationship among people, media, and society in a complex global social ecosystem, providing a certain kind of linkage, systematization, and strategic thinking for communication research and media management.
The report draws on the wisdom of the media industry, communication academia and relevant official authorities to provide a comprehensive overview of the world's media development and changes in the global communication landscape since 2020 in four dimensions: policy-idea, technology-hotspot, market-ecology, and structure-country.
Since 2020, several countries around the world have strengthened their emphasis on information and communication infrastructure in the strategic layout, as evidenced by the full-scale rollout of 5G commercialization worldwide, the strengthening of strategic layout of 6G in several countries, and the trend of white-hot competition among major countries in the satellite Internet. Specifically, the global communication ecology in 2020 shows six characteristics. First, "watching" and "listening" will further migrate online, and the trend of "online" audiovisual consumption will become more significant. Third, the "cloud" media exploration is diversified and rich, and the new industry is stirring all aspects of information production to consumption; Fourth, the sustainable development of the industry has become a must-answer question for the media industry, and the trend of integration between communication and multiple fields is more significant; Fifth, technology further empowers Fifth, technology further empowers content production and distribution, and intelligent communication is close at hand; Sixth, information regulation has become clearer, and power constraints and healthy development in the digital era have become important themes.
Looking ahead, four forward-looking tips on global communication ecology are proposed. First, the current digital decoupling centered on China and the United States may trigger a trend of reverse globalization in the field of information and communication infrastructure construction; second, the application of technology in the media field is like "Pandora's Box", and further attention needs to be paid to the "demystification" and countermeasure of technology; third, the children's market and the digital media are the most important issues. Third, the children's market and silver-haired economy have become new growth points and need to be given more attention; fourth, the change of the global information and communication order under the changing international political and economic landscape should continue to be given high attention, while the concept and practice of a global communication community of destiny is emerging.
