This book is the second annual report of Blue Book of Social Mentality, conducted by Center for Social Psychological Studies (CSPS), Institute of Sociology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The experts taking part in the study of this project and the writing of this book include scholars and researchers from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, universities, professional survey companies and internet companies. The research reports included in this book are not only based on quantitative survey, but also qualitative analysis and interview. The general report describes the main characteristics and developing tendencies of social mentality in current Chinese society, and analyzes the problems reflected in social mentality.
In 2012, nearly 50% of the residents of China feel satisfactory about their life status; but comparing to the year of 2011, the average level of life satisfactory has fallen a little; the residents in western areas have the highest level in life satisfaction, followed by the residents in eastern areas, while the residents in central area have the lowest level in life satisfaction. Meanwhile, the life satisfaction among urban residents is lower than rural residents.
