Description:

2012 is a remarkable year in the history of developing China's cause of aging with rich achievements in various undertakings. The eighteenth National Congress of CPC made a strategy "make active response to population aging and develop the cause of aging and relevant industries with great efforts".

The newly revised “Law of the People's Republic of China on Protection of the Rights and Interests of the Elderly” made it clear that active response to aging is a long term strategy of the country. Meanwhile, series of aging policies were made by the State Council and government agencies relevant to aging, with the overall implementation of the 12th Five Year Plan of Development of the Cause of Aging, in particular, significant breakthrough were achieved, the basic policy frame is being shaped, the security system for the elderly made remarkable progress, healthcare of the elderly flourished, services for the elderly were developed with good momentum, friendly environment for the elderly developed steadily, culture of old age grew prosperously, the social management of the elderly was innovated continuously, the process of legalization regarding the cause of aging quickened up and research on aging began turning to the stream.

At same time, there were problems in China's cause of aging in 2012, e.g. the system and mechanism were due to be formed, the security and healthcare system of the elderly needed to be improved, services for the elderly were unbalanced and the friendly environment for the elderly lagged behind etc.

The book is divided into two main parts. The situation of the development of China's cause of aging in 2012 is reviewed in the general report under the subtitles e.g. aging policies, support and health care for the elderly, services for the elderly, culture of aging, friendly environment for the elderly, management of the elderly groups, development of legal system of the elderly and scientific research on aging. Based upon this the development of China's cause of aging in 2013 is expected.
