Abstract: To understand the evolution mechanism of spatial organization in innovation districts and then to guide the development practice is an important task in now.Based on Analysis of assets in innovation districts from Brookings report,the paper knows well about the roles in evolution process of innovative districts,and then studies the growth mechanism of innovative districts separately from dimensions of enterprises and government.Finally,the paper proposes Enlightenment for Chinese cities.

Abstract: This paper,based on the report “The Rise of Innovation Districts:A New Geography of Innovation in America Strategy” issued by Brookings Institution,tried to capture this emerging trend of Innovation Districts.It explored the large forces and local practices and practitioners that are driving innovation and provide initial guidance to U.S.city and metropolitan leaders on how best to recognize and extend the growth of their own innovation districts.The paper analyzed the multiple assets of innovation districts,and provided real-world guidance and insights for cities trying to start or extend this model in their own communities.

Abstract: This paper,based on the long term plan of OPEN Sydney:Future directions for Sydney at night,Strategy and action plan 2013-2030 issued by City of Sydney,tried to study roadmap for improving Sydney’s night-time economy.The study focused on the problems such as growing visitor volumes,transport availability and capacity,the diversity of leisure options available at night and how to better balance growth to ensure Sydney is a place where people can live as well as do business.

Abstract: Twin cities have been the major type of urban communication. However,the new economic partnership signed by Chicago and Mexico launches a series of initiative in trade,innovation,education and other fields and,promotes employment and competitiveness in advanced industries.The world is evolving as a network of trading cities,seamlessly integrating the exchange of people,goods,services,energy,capital,ideas,and culture.North America as a unique competitive producing and trading platform has been driven by cities and metro regions which in turn become the engine and center for trading and investment.The partnership of Chicago and Mexico city has implications for Chinese cities in following aspects:(1) integrated economic trading relationship between twin cities;(2) proper economic trading in conform to industries and development,sharing innovative policy and enhancing competitiveness;and,(3) deepened cooperation in innovation,education and human capital.

Abstract: As the economic center of South Africa and an emerging global city,Johannesburg plays a key role in the social-economic progress of Africa.To be adaptive to the rapidly changing global context,to promote the city’s sustainability and competitiveness,the Municipal Government has forwarded Joburg 2040 Growth and Development Strategy (GDS) in view of the city’s potential and characteristics.Major goals of Joburg 2040 are: (1) Improved quality of life and development-driven resilience for all; (2) Provide a resilient,liveable,sustainable urban environment-underpinned by infrastructure supportive of a low-carbon economy; (3) An inclusive,job-intensive,resilient and competitive economy that harnesses the potential of citizens;and,(4) A high performing metropolitan government that pro-actively contributes to and builds a sustainable,socially inclusive,locally integrated and globally competitive Gauteng City Region.
