In 2014, the world economy continues to recover,but the remaining issues of the financial crisis to the global economy has not fully recovered and the pace of recovery in the world is increasingly showing larger differences in rate of recovery between countries. Economic growth remains modest and uneven in developed countries,and the emerging economies are still a major force in global economic growth,but the growth rate is lower than the level of recovery during the boom years before the crisis and after the crisis. According to the International Monetary Fund(IMF)’s predictions in 2014, the global economic growth is about 3.3%,which is 1.8% of developed countries and 4.4% of emerging economies. The most countries and regions in the world such as United States, Japan and the European Union regard the IT industry as the leading industry of recovering economy and reshaping the national long-term competitiveness. These countries have introduced a series of policies and measures to promote industrial development. With these various positive influences,in 2014 the production value of the world’s electronic information industry is becoming significantly stronger,and the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries have been quickened,the new industrial revolution is gaining momentum.

Despite the complicated international and domestic situation,the economy of China electronic information industry remains stable in 2014.The industry continues to expand,the scale of investment in fixed assets grew steadily,and imports and exports declined slightly. Under the impetus of the national’s policy measures,the layout of the electronic information industry have been rationalized and the inter-regional differences have been shrinking. The structural adjustments have achieved remarkable results. Communications equipment, electronics and home audio-visual industry are having outstanding performance, especially the communications equipment manufacturing industry is becoming the main drivers of industry growth. In the future, China electronic information industry will continue to show a slight increase in trend.

To enhance understanding of the world’s electronic information industry and comprehensive grasp of the information,the Electronic Technology Information Research Institute (MIIT) continues to provide strong support for the development of China electronic information industry,and long-term development of the industry with systematic follow-up studies and continuous annual reports. Annual Report on the Development of World Information Technology Industry in 2014-2015 includes the General section,National Regional section,Industry section,Enterprise section, Policies Regulations section,Featured topics section and Hot-Topic section. The report analysis the development of electronic information industry of the world's major countries and regions,the characteristics of typical enterprise business development,the policies and measures to promote industrial development and future industry trends of the next three years. The report focuses on development hot-spot of the industry and technology,seeking to outline the development of the industry in multi-level and multiple angles.
