Abstract: In 2014, women’s subjective feelings about life is positive, and the general evaluation index for life quality gets a mark of 63.2. Women’s consumption is characterized by variety, fashion and individualism. As online shopping, women hold up half the sky. Women do not see child-bearing and household chores as a hurdle in their pursuit of self development. They want to go further in their future career. It is suggested that women’s employment should be expanded and their income be increased. They need colorful leisure time. Promoting safe consumption and improving favorable women’s career environment is important to raise women’s life quality.

2 The Tenth Chinese City Women Life Quality Survey Report

Abstract: Women surveyed in 2014 give their life quality mark of 74.9, higher than the city life quality evaluation index of 63.2. Their satisfaction mark of individual income and job is 55.1and 66.1 respectively. They mark their living environment 60.4. 61.8 per cent consider themselves healthy. 61 per cent have housing of their own. They work on average 2.1 hours for household chores. 45.9 per cent feel they do not have leisure time . They rate their sense of happiness at 73.3 and the happiest thing is a harmonious family and healthy and safe family members.

3 Survey Report on Chinese Women in Asset Evaluation Services

Abstract: The average age of women surveyed in asset evaluation services is 36.7, and 64.1 per cent with university degrees. Registered evaluators occupy 54.2 per cent. They work on average 8.3 hours daily, and 8.3 years in the business. Generally speaking, they go on errands for 55 days yearly, and 95.9 percent say they are accustomed to, or basically accustomed to the jo 91.9 per cent are satisfied with their jobs. Their 2012 average income is 76000, and 58.1 say they have their own houses. 65.3 feel happy.

4 Survey Report on Working and Living Conditions of Women in Lactation Period

Abstract: The survey shows 70.6 per cent women go back to work after their maternity leave. 82.7 per cent return to their original working unit. 87.4 per cent agree that a mother should be financially independent.50.4 per cent mothers spend one-hour nursing time. 26.1 women breast pump and prepare milk for their babies while working. 15.6 per cent working units provide nursing rooms. Spending on baby products cost 4281.5 yuan, amounting to 23.3 per cent of their family income. With their children, 51.1 per cent women feel life better and 66.8 per cent become happier despite hard work.

5 2014 Chinese City Women’s Consumption Survey Report

Abstract: In 2014 the household budget ratio of consumption, saving and investment is 61∶23∶16. Household monthly consumption is 9296.9 yuan. Individual monthly spending is 3692 yuan. For most people the biggest spending is on clothing while the largest amount is travel spending. For households, the biggest spending is on housing, either for home buying or rental or furnishing. 67.3 per cent have traveled. 91.8 per cent have shopped online, costing 22.9 per cent of their family consumption spending. Safe consumption indicator is 51.7. Women surveyed hope that the government will strengthen supervision so as to improve consumption environment.

6 Trend Analysis on Changing Travel Demands (2006-2014)

Abstract: Today travel has become city women’s primary holiday choice. From 2006 to 2014, on average 62.7 per cent women and their families go traveling each year. In 2010 they spent 5666.1 yuan on travel, and the figure jumped to 15079.6 yuan in 2014, an average year-on-year increase of 27.7 per cent. Group tours have become less popular and more women choose to travel on their own. The number of people taking overseas tours has increased and spending is also on the rise. It is suggested that paid annual leave system should be fully implemented so that city women would spend more on travel. New travel products should be created and travel environment should be optimized.

Abstract: Women play a significant role in domestic consumption drive. Social development, new creations in science and technology, and implementation of new policies will create new consumption demand. The industrial structure must be optimized, products must be improved and updated so as to make new growth area and meet new consumption demand. Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Consumer Rights and Interests has perfected the system to protect consumer rights and interests. The government, enterprises, media and the consumers should all shoulder their responsibilities.

8 Implementing New Law and Protecting Female Consumers’ Rights and Interests

Abstract: Facing issues raised by new consumption demand, the amended Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Consumer Rights and Interests has provided strong guarantee for consumers. It has also advocated that the whole society should shoulder civilized consumption responsibility. Women are main players in social and family consumption and their role is irreplaceable in healthy civilized life patterns. Chinese Consumers’ Association will continue to pay attention to protecting women consumers’ lawful rights and interests.

Abstract: The critical period of the country has come now since China is expected to become the world’s second largest consumption power in two to three years. The continuous economic development and consumption growth confront limited natural resources and environmental restrictions. China will face a grave situation if average per capita resource consumption is to reach the 2008 American level, which is 80 per cent of the carrying capacity of the world’s ecosystem. We should make a change immediately and the key lies in the concerted efforts by the government, enterprises and consumers to find a sustainable development road.

Abstract: A research of women’s life quality has been conducted over 10 years.It has become a special perspective of women studies. The research has built a basic data base for city women’s life quality and produced a series of fruitful results. The survey samples are extensive. Consistent measurement standards have been applied from the very beginning.A good project needs to be adhered to and improved. Therefore it is suggested making choice cities for later survey should be scientific, and the sample scale be expanded. Measurement and indicators for women’s life quality should be further perfected and strengthen the in-depth analysis and utilization of survey data.

Abstract: On the whole, Chinese city women’s life quality is improving. Their satisfaction level for Individual income, family income, health condition, family relation and city management is on the rise while job satisfaction drops. According to their evaluation city environment is not as good as they would like it to be. Through analysis we can find that individual income satisfaction, job satisfaction, family relation satisfaction and professional type are the core elements that affect city women’s life quality.
