Supported by sub-council of China Council for the promotion of Social Organizations, that is, Federation of China Trade Associations & Chambers of Commerce,Development Report on China’s Trade Associations & Chambers of Commerce is a joint researching fruit collaborated by International Cooperation Center of National Development and Reform Commission (ICC-NDRC), Academy of Public Policy of Renmin University of China, Non-Governmental Organizations Administrative Bureau of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The report is the first blue book of the development of China’s trade associations & chambers of commerce.

The book is comprised of 5 parts: Comprehensive Report,Subsidiary Report, Local Report, Industrial Report and Appendix. The features and recent trends of the reforming development of China trade associations & chambers of commerce are systematically, thoroughly presented in the book with different angles.

The Comprehensive Report summarizes fundamental theories of trade associations & chambers of commerce, elaborates their connotation and attribute, concludes their basic characteristics, retrospect their development process, analyzes their current development, problems, and raises countermeasures. According to the report, trade associations & chambers of commerce in China will take on the fast track of development with ever increasing abilities, more distinctive functions, and play active role in industrial service, self-discipline, reflecting their claims, international exchange and promoting social economic development. Meanwhile, their future development faces several challenges, such as inadequate implementation of direct registration, lack of independence, non-standard activities, incomplete developing ecology, weak core competence, imperfect legal system, etc. In terms of policies, the systematic reform of registration of trade associations & chambers of commerce in China should pace up, separation of those organizations and administrative offices should be boosted, modern supervisory system fitting post-dual-management phase should be set up, their developing environment should be optimized, governing structure improved and specific law and regulations formulated. The overall status of China’s trade associations & chambers of commerce is unfolded with full and accurate facts in the comprehensive report.

Subsidiary Report analyzes the reform development of China’s trade associations & chambers of commerce with 3 aspects, namely, national trade associations & chambers of commerce, local trade associations & chambers of commerce, and de-administration reform of those organizations. Subsidiary Report is distinguished with its data, cases, clear-cut viewpoints, deep analysis and high reference value.

Local Report contains 17 provincial developing reports (autonomous region, municipality directly under the Central Government) including Beijing, Tianjin. The 17 reports summarizes recent reform and development of local trade federations & chambers of commerce from 5 aspects, namely, outline of their development, reform and developing efforts, main problems and suggestions.

Industrial Report selects 12 typical cases of trade associations & chambers of commerce, such as China Machinery Industry Federation, China Chamber of Commerce for Machinery and Electronic Products Import and Export, China Association for the promotion of Development Financing. The development of those associations & chambers of commerce is illustrated on their stand of view.

The Chronicle of Events is listed in Appendix, which is from 1979 to 31, October,2014.
