Annual Report on Development of Chinese Documentary(2015) is an annual report on the development in the documentary field, released by China Documentary Research Center (CDRC). The book, based on the series research works concerning the frontier issues done by CDRC since 2006, taking national level, academic integrity, institute position and Chinese style as guiding, integrates the views and statements of domestic and foreign experts in the documentary academia and industry into one. During the writing process of the book, CDRC conducts a full investigation on the production and transmission organization in the national documentary field, and carries monographic study on China Central Television (CCTV), provincial channels, specialized channels, documentary theater chain distribution, the development of China’s documentary in the field of new media, the status quo of Chinese folk documentary, and other areas, through establishing CDRC Research Programs, cooperating with the SARFT, 3rd Bureau of the State Council Information Office, Bureau for External Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Culture, CCTV, China International Television Corporation, China Central Newsreels Corporation, CNDFILM, CSM and other related institutions. The Research team summarizes, collects and analyzes the large number of the obtained first-hand data, compares and confirms the authoritative data of relevant departments.
The General Report of the book combines the related survey data of CDRC in 2014, and continues the annual surveys of commercial activities; in the section of Industry Description, it conducts a visual description and grasps from industrial trend, industrial environment, international marketing, capital markets and other several aspects. The outstanding feature of Chinese documentary development in 2014 is: new environment is developing, the public area is “new”, “changing” and “regular” and the new media documentary and internationalization under the environment of “internet+” : it deeply analysis that The “Pan documentary” program has become a new turning point of industrialization, and pointed out the main trend of the development of documentary industry.
