Abstract: Active response to population aging has become a national strategy.It is an indispensable important aspect of active response to population aging to strengthen the construction of elderly livable environment, provide supportive livable environment for the elderly and improve the life quality of all citizens in old age.Under the background of new era of urbanization, the elderly livable environment construction is facing a rare historical development opportunity.The current Chinese elderly livable environment construction has acquired remarkable achievements in the aspects of policy, practice and market, etc., and attracted broad participation of social forces.But overall, the elderly livable environment construction in our country is still at a preliminary stage and there are many outstanding problems, therefore it needs to take further effective measures, greatly optimize elderly livable environment and develop environment, overall push forward the construction of elderly livable environment in urban and rural, effectively promote the healthy development of elderly livable market, actively carry out the public environment construction applicable to the elderly, focus on strengthening the construction of elderly livable communities, as well as speed up to build the elderly livable environment standard and system.

2　Current Construction Situation and Development Suggestions for Elderly Livable Urban

Abstract: With the social aging process, building an elderly livable urban and town environment became a kind of broad consensus.This article summarize and learn from the global elderly livable cities and towns on the theoretical results and practical experience, constructed a evaluation index system of urban environment suitable for old people, combining with the physiological and psychological characteristics of the old people and of the specific condition of our country.On this basis, the paper evaluated the problems in the process of building elder-friendly environment and recommends optimizations: The strategic plan should be innovated and prior;Differentiated elderly livable urban environment should be built according to different city and town scales;Pay attention to the quality of urban ecology, outdoor and indoor environment suitable for elders, as well as the aged-friendly public service system;Encourage government to promote and more social participation.

4　Elderly Livable Issues and Development Strategies in Urban Traffic System

Abstract: This paper aims at providing a set of strategies which help transform China’s current urban transportation system into one adaptive to aging society, or Transportation for Seniors.  A literature search was undertaken from CNKI and Google Scholar.  The paper firstly summarized and analyzed travel patterns of Chinese elderly people; then identified the problems and challenges of the current transportation system from three levels-community, urban and regional; lastly, case studies from other countries were undertaken and strategies for developing community, urban and regional transportation for seniors were proposed.

Abstract: With the development of new urbanization construction, more and more attention is being paid to the building of livable environment. The constructions of the elderly livable city, the elderly friendly community and the elderly warm family are gradually carried out around the country and planning and implementation of urban leisure space environment is the important part. To create a new prospect of the construction of the elderly livable city and elderly friendly community, the construction of the elderly leisure space and related supporting facilities should go first according to the scientific and reasonable planning by the criteria of the construction of the elderly livable environment. And all these should be done on the basis of a thorough investigation into the reality and under the guidance of the regulations and policies of the Party and the country on the cause of ageing.

Abstract: This thesis is based on the study of several small practice architectural projects for aged in the historic preservation district in Beijing.Through in-depth case anatomy and comparative analysis,the author try to rethink about the current development situation of pension system,the management and service system and the architectural planning and design for aged in old districts in Chinese city.In order to improve the pension livable system in China,the author try to explore the development trend of the pension system,and to put forward a new construction concept according with the characteristics and real needs of old districts in city.

Abstract: Rapid development trend of China’s aging makes demands on security housing communities for elderly-oriented service. The paper discusses the current development status of the specification and standards related to buildings, planning and design for the aged in China. Based on the sample investigation on the actual residential conditions of the elderly people in security housing community, and taking their living needs as the pointcut, the paper analyses the aged demands on community elderly care and brings forward elderly-oriented countermeasures on security service.

Abstract: With the advent of the aging society, the study of“the suitable environment for the older”has more important practical significance.In this paper, firstly, with the investigation of pension agencies, real estate community and the old community, we sum up the problems of outdoor landscape environment in community.Secondly, compared with community applicable regulations and related research in China and abroad, we learn from the experience of the aging residence abroad.Basely, four cardinal principles are proposed.And giving suggests for the outdoor venues, leisure facilities, identification systems, plant configuration, standards, accessible system, aging park.It is significant for outdoor landscape design of aging community in China.

10　Current Construction Situation and Development Suggestions for Green Buildings for Elderly

Abstract: Since 2000,China is under the stage of rapidly constructing new residential care beds for the elderly,which is the best time for implanting energy saving equipment and environmental protection strategies.This article reviews the existing status and problems in terms of resource usage and related sustainable issues in China’s specialised facilities for the elderly.Based on that,useful western practical experiences and research knowledge are also reviewed accordingly.On this basis,the article pointed out the direction for China’s housing for the elderly of avoiding the blind pursuit of “low carbon” housing for the elderly,but starting with the basics,such as water and electricity saving; this is supported by given policies,regulation and practice suggestions,as well as implementation advices.

11　Construction Experience of International Care Services Facilities for Elderly and Enlightenment

Abstract: Based on a comparative research of the author on international experiences in constructing integrated social and health care system for the elderly,this article underlines the main differences between the EU countries and the United States regarding their construction models as well as the universal policy foundation and care philosophies currently shared among them,thus providing a comprehensive and critical perspective for Chinese researches and practitioners in this field to appropriately take these experiences as references.As a revelation to China,it is stressed that the construction of elderly service and care facilities must be directed towards an intensive,meticulous and innovative executive mechanism in order to eliminate the problems in current mind-set and initial practice,and better cope with the social conditions and demands for elderly care in China.Correspondingly,a series of strategic suggestions to preferentially promote build quality and effectiveness is proposed in a hierarchy from general planning to detailed design.
