Annual Report on Development of New Media in China No.11 (2020) is the latest annual report on the development of new media compiled by Journalism and Communication Research Center of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. The year of 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the official entry of the Internet into our country. Along with the continuous improvement of the Internet infrastructure, the rapid increase in the number of Internet users and the extremely rich Internet products and services, the development of new media has become the leading force in the media industry. The new media industry energizes other industries by means of new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence, and Internet giants vigorously layout the industrial Internet, bringing new opportunities for new media. In 2019, driven by network collaboration and data intelligence, the number of users, the scale of industry, the quantity and quality of applications and services have developed rapidly. 5G, block chain and overseas market have further promoted the development of new media.
