Blue Book of Film:Annual Report on Development of Global Film Industry is an annual development report on film industry compiled by the Global Film Industry Research Centre of Qingdao Film Academy, the National Film Think Tank of Beijing Film Academy and the UNESCO City of Film (Qingdao) Office, in collaboration with many experts, scholars and industry elites at home and abroad. Since its launch in 2018, Annual Report on Development of Global Film Industry has been based on a global perspective, with North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) and Latin America as the four major research perspectives, exploring the laws of development of the film industry, and striving to become an important reference book for the government, industry, academia and the public to understand the development trend of the global film industry.
Annual Report on Development of Global Film Industry advocates the adoption of a theoretical research framework of industrial economics, based on authoritative data of global film industry, through professional analysis of theoretical perspectives, to interpret the development trends of the film industry in China and the world, analyzes hot issues, difficulties and focal points in the development of the film industry. The book not only provides an overview of the current development of the global film industry, but also focuses on hot topics such as City of Film and super intellectual properties. On the basis of building a research system for the development of the film industry, the book provides a scientific and accurate study of the development trend of the film industry under the global pattern.
In terms of structure,Annual Report on Development of Global Film Industry (2021) is divided into six parts:General Report, Evaluation Report, Chinese Reports, International Reports, Case Studies and Special Reports. This book makes an in-depth and thorough analysis of the overall, subdivision and hot issues of the global film industry in 2019-2020. The General Report is the core content of the book. On the basis of a comprehensive overview of the development of the global film industry in 2020, the general report summarizes the main features and development trends of the global film industry based on the four research perspectives of North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe-Middle East-Africa(EMEA) and Latin America, and analyzes the profound reasons for the different impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on different countries and regions. The Evaluation Report is the second part. On the basis of the theoretical model of comprehensive evaluation of the film industry and the framework of the comprehensive index of the film industry, we collect the latest data to calculate and analyze the situation of the four research areas and 24 globally representative countries and regions. World Film Industry Index Study (2021) was released. The Chinese Reports not only analyses China’s film industry in general, but also provides in-depth research on production and screening, as well as the construction of industry policies and regulations, and analyses hot issues such as the rapidly emerging network films and animated films. The development of the film industry in the Hong Kong and Taiwan region is also analyzed. The International Reports focuses on the four regions of North America, Asia-Pacific, EMEA and Latin America. The Case Study selects a representative film and provides a multi-dimensional and in-depth analysis. The Special Reports focus on cross-domain distribution, the traditional Hollywood distribution model, domestic comedies and Chinese film copyright. It has both theoretical reference value and practical guiding significance.
Film is a globalized entertainment industry, especially Hollywood plays a leading role in the global film industry, which brings the conflict and integration of globalization and localization, and the conflict and struggle between commercial entertainment culture and cultural diversity. In order to promote cultural exchanges and industrial cooperation between China and foreign countries, Qingdao Film Academy, rooted in the City of Film, adhering to the UNESCO concept of “sustainable development” and relying on the Global Film Industry Research Community formed by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (including the film cities), will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with film production, learning and research institutions at home and abroad, and strive to make Annual Report on Development of Global Film Industry the carrier of Sino-foreign film information exchange and industrial cooperation.
