Report on Hearing Health in China(2021) is the first blue book that systematically describes the status of hearing health in China. It is written by experts in medical and rehabilitation fields,research institutions of universities and government researchers,organized by Audiology Development Foundation of China.

This report summarizes the data of the 2006 national sampling from people with disabilities and the survey data of otopathy and hearing impairment in recent years to show the current situation of hearing health development in China,to explore the future trend of hearing health development and to give suggestions. The report analyzes the current situation in the following points:prevention measures,the technology and methods of diagnosis and rehabilitation,application of new technology and achievements of scientific research in this field,popular science publicity,public charity,and policy support;also puts forward the existing problems. In the face of an aging society arrivals in China and the problem of noise-induce-hearing-impairment caused by diversified reasons become younger in age etc.,this report,from the perspective of development,puts forward the questions as followed:how to prevent hearing impairment and improve national health quality;how to improve living quality for hearing-impaired people;and how to ensure the rights and interests of hearing-impaired people etc.. The report propose to incorporate hearing disability prevention and community rehabilitation into basic public services;advocate premarital examination;make further efforts on increasing the newborn hearing screening rate and perfect the data information system;educate prevention of hearing impairment as popular science starting from young children;strengthen the awareness of noise-induced-damage prevention for youngsters;reinforce the management of chronic diseases;give appropriate subsidies in terms of hearing aid equipment and rehabilitation for the elderly with hearing difficulties;enhance rehabilitational institution development and rehabilitation practitioners training etc..

In 1987 and 2006,China conducted national sample survey of the disabled. Based on the results of the second sample survey,this report introduces the survey results of ear diseases and hearing impairment in some provinces conducted by some units in accordance with WHO standards in recent years,and calls for a new round of national sample survey of the disabled,to provide the basis for the government to make better preventive intervention policies.
