Description:

This report is the 2020 analysis report of the “Internet Hospital” project group of the Institute of Medical Information of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. It was written by experts from research institutions, university scholars, national government researchers and representatives of the Internet medical industry organized by the Institute of Medical Information of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

This report focuses on the analysis of the development history of Internet hospitals inChina and the development status, operating models, problems and development trends of Internet hospitals in 2020. The report believes that the epidemic of the COVID-19 has brought important development opportunities to the development of Internet hospitals. The number of Internet hospitals at all levels and types has grown rapidly, and it is characterized by a relatively large proportion of single Internet hospitals and Internet hospitals in the eastern region. All provinces actively promulgated policies to encourage Internet hospitals to carry out Internet consultation and Internet prescription services, and include reasonable Internet diagnosis and treatment projects into the scope of medical insurance payment. It can be said that on the basis of ensuring the reduction of crowd gathering and personnel contact,Internet hospitals provide an important means to support the people’s necessary medical needs. The report also pointed out that the current development of Internet hospitals is also facing many problems and challenges. Internet hospitals have problems such as unbalanced development between regions and hospitals, and the single business model. The integration of online and offline services is also insufficient. The patient utilization rate is still at a low level. As the prevention and control of the new crown epidemic enters the post-COVID-19 era,the development of Internet hospitals should move towards a scientific development path of “systematic planning,demand-oriented,innovation-driven and multi-integration”,with the goal of contributing to the national strategy of “Healthy China 2030”. And as an important tool,it will become an organic carrier for promoting hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, optimizing the allocation of medical resources, and improving the whole process and full cycle health management. Regarding the development prospects of Internet hospitals, this report believes that Internet hospitals,as a carrier and new infrastructure for the development of Internet medical service-related businesses, have played a key role in the development of the online medical service market, whether in terms of policy orientation or patient needs. However, from the perspective of national policies, the direction of relying on physical medical institutions will not change in the short term, and the supervision of Internet hospitals will be more comprehensive and strict. Internet hospitals should pay attention to the connection and integration of online and offline services, break down the barriers to online and offline services, and take advantage of the efficiency, convenience, and individualization of Internet hospitals compared with traditional hospital service models. From the perspective of meeting the needs of patients for medical treatment and providing more convenient services,Internet hospitals can open up more diversified development paths.
