Description:

The year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important directive on“accelerating the convergence and development of traditional and new media.”Over the past decade, China's media convergence has continued to deepen, advancing towards a new stage of comprehensive innovation and collaborative development. Presently, media convergence is displaying new trends: since 2021, media convergence has accelerated the comprehensive digitization of society, creating a diverse cross-media ecosystem, and supporting the construction of a smart China. Empowered by intelligent technologies, the digital infrastructure of media convergence platforms accelerates cross-media collaboration and transformation, fostering a novel pattern of comprehensive media communication. Beyond being a conduit for information, media has evolved into a public service platform, cultivating a thriving culture of immersive digital experiences. The broad application of digital and intelligent technologies is reshaping media formats, content creation, and dissemination channels. This evolution is redefining China's deeply integrated media communication landscape: thematic reporting remains aligned with the current era; AI-human interaction innovates content creation and dissemination; intelligent media integration shifts from constant online presence to permanent engagement; an expansive emergency broadcast network bolsters public service development. Constructive public opinion supervision drives modern grassroots governance, and media's deep convergence guides international communication toward convergence. Accompanied by the comprehensive improvement of data, computing power, and algorithms, the evolution of new technologies is also propelling the second half of the intelligent communication revolution. This will bring revolutionary changes to user perception, information dissemination, media industry models, international relations, and human society. In the future, further breakthroughs and developments are anticipated in the realms of experiential integration, relational integration, scenario integration, value integration, and ecological integration.
