Description:

In the world today, the competition of comprehensive national strength has become increasingly fierce. Each country, especially the major powers, races to exhibits strength in hard power and charm of soft power in various ways. As an increasing number of facts indicate, no state can maintain its strength without soft power, an aspect that is becoming more and more prominent. In the international contest, a country could be vulnerable due to its weakness in hard power and otherwise may be naked as result of its feebleness in soft power, as seen in the typical example of the disintegration of Soviet Union. It is worth noticing that culture is both the framework that supports soft power and the soul that gives it life. Consequently, soft power would be short-sighted if it lacked cultural breadth, superficial if it lacked cultural depth, and narrow if it lacked cultural inclusiveness. Without innovation, soft power will inevitably become rigid and atrophic. From a fundamental point of view, cultural soft power is the reason why soft power as a whole is so closely related to a nation.
