The aim of this book is to understand the theoretical underpinnings of global energy governance and what such a theory can tell us about past, present and future development of the geopolitics of world energy supply and demand. The author argues that global energy governance is a function of the interaction among the physical, regional and international orders, and its effectiveness depends importantly on how well designed and operated pertinent institutions are. Finally, the book presents a critical review of China’s role in the global energy market and offers strategy and policy suggestions for strengthening it.
